Quezon City, Philippines– ABS-CBN and Promil Pre-school launches the i-Shine Talent Camp, a TV reality show that aims to encourage parents to develop and support their child’s talent. The launch was held at the Skydome of SM North Edsa last April 21, 2012.
Former child star Dimples Romana hosted the press conference as well as the short program that followed. During the pressdon, she shared about her childhood, what she learned from her mom as well as her dreams for her child.
Guest speaker was ABS CBN teleserye Director Ryan Carlos who shared some tips on how to motivate and develop the children’s talents. In the acting workshop, he described three important points they must enforce: first, they make an appointment with the parents and tell them to encourage the kids to read. This helps in the children’s imagination which is critical in acting.
“Don’t read and kill your imagination” Director Carlos stresses the importance of reading
The next point is to allow the children to make mistakes so they can learn faster. The workshop includes 2 and a half hours to 3 hours of fun, improvisation games to help develop their personalities.
The third important step is to let the kids understand the value of time and promptness. The consequence for the child not coming on time is that he or she would be ignored by the crew during that day’s session. He describes this punishment, that would benefit the child’s character in the future, as “isang hampas, siyam na himas” (one slap but nine tender pats on the back).
The media guests were invited to watch the short program after the press conference where there was a live audition performance. Guest judges gave comments after the impromptu group numbers that included dancing and singing. They also gave advice on how to improve their performance. Parents and relatives were part of the audience who cheered for their children.
Parents who brought their children to SM North Edsa Skydome the weekend of April 21-22 were given free Star Magic Workshops for the kids as well the chance to perform their talent live and use it as an entry for the i-Shine Talent Camp. Personalities who helped the children during the workshops included Jake Macapagal, Carla Martinez, Hotlegs, ASAP dancers among others.
