Jack and the Beanstalk At Star City

Manila City, PhilipppinesThe Camp Art Summer Workshop 2012 which began April 10 and lasted until May 20, culminated in a stage  production of Jack and the Beanstalk held at the Star City Theater, Star City, CCP Complex last May 20, 2012.

Parents, relatives and guests were entertained by the children who had to multi-tasks: remember their lines and dance routines, their many songs, change to many costumes quickly, move around props, and still properly project to their audience the different characters each was portraying. Two characters in particular stood out in their natural acting ability and cheerful projection to the audience, the mother of jack and the golden duck. The beanstalk, the castle, and the giant scene, which were the tricky production segments, were addressed satisfactorily with the simple play of lights, string-pulling, a giant mock up, and two-sided, easy-to-move-around backdrops.

The next play from Kids Acts Philippines, Inc. (KAPI) to watch out for is the re-run of Hansel & Gretel  A Children’s Musical to be held Oct. 12-14, 19-21 at the St. Cecilia’s Hall at St. Scholastica’s College in Malate.  The musical play will feature the promising child actors who are scholars of the group’s musical theatre school called The Camp Art.
