You have less than three weeks left to submit your entries to Philpop 2013, the search for excellent Filipino musical composers who can showcase musical ingenuity and passion to an overwhelming degree. Songwriters can send their entries through www.philpop.com.ph.
Philpop’s aim is to revive the nation’s love for Filipino Music. In a society full of cluttered and meaningless words, there was a definite need to push a giant undertaking as the Philippine Popular Music Fetival (Philpop) to remind people where our music should be headed. Philpop was specially produced to highlight deserving songwriters who can inspire and spark positive change through their music.
With Ryan Cayabyab spearheading the project, the competition has acquired so much publicity and excitement since last year’s initial competition. With nearly 3,000 entries in 2012, Filipinos all over the world embraced the challenge of pushing their boundaries to create something that would appeal to everyone.
The Philpop Musicfest Foundation Inc. is an advocate of Filipino music which is a cultural treasure, the identity of our people and our country. Apart from the songwriting competition, the foundation also embarked on a nationwide tour teaching songwriting and music appreciation through “Songwriting with the Maestro” which has reached thousands of students and other enthusiasts from several parts of the country.
