Toonami, television’s most exciting superhero channel, recently hosted the TOONAMI 3×3 HOOPS SHOWDOWN, the ultimate basketball tournament last Saturday, July 13, at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia
Winners for each division are as follows: Lourdes School of Mandaluyong defeated Don Bosco Makati with 11-7 points in Division 1; Claret School of Quezon City emerged victorious with a one-point lead against Pasig Catholic College, 9-8 in Division 2; and Colegio San Juan de Letran triumphed over Diliman Preparatory School 11-9 points in Division 3.
Other participating schools included Colegio San Agustin, Diliman Preparatory School, Don Bosco Technical Institute-Makati, Don Bosco Technical CollegePasig Catholic College, Philippine Christian University – Dasma, Sacred Heart Academy – Pasig, San Sebastian College and St. Mary’s College Quezon City.
“Toonami takes pride in being the ultimate action destination, bringing the world’s greatest heroes together on-air, online and in gaming,” said Ben Adams, Regional Marketing Manager, Turner International Asia Pacific. “With the Toonami 3×3 Hoops Showdown, we’re taking it a step further by assembling the country’s up & coming basketball talents on one court to compete for the supreme title.”
Prior to the actual tournament, the Toonami 3×3 Hoops Showdown started off with an exclusive basketball clinic conducted by former UAAP basketball stars Simon Atkins (De La Salle University), Nico Salva and Greg Slaughter (Ateneo De Manila University). The special morning session was for the students of Sisters of Mary Boystown and Miriam College Southeast Asian Institute for the Deaf (SAID).
Also present at the event was Angelus ‘Bogs’ Raymundo of the Philippine Basketball Association’s GlobalPort Batang Pier team, co-presented with Burlington.
